Screening of F3 lines of rice against gall midge resistance in rice

Abstract:
One hundered eighty three F3 progenies were screened for gall midge [Orseolia oryzae (Wood-Mason)] for resistance, at Regional Agricultural Research Station, Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU), Warangal, Telangana during wet season (Kharif) of 2021 under delayed planting situation ensuring sufficient pest load. Among these 183 progenies screened, 13 progenies were found highly resistant, 33 progenies had shown resistant reaction and 87 progenies were moderately resistant against gall midge. Single palnt selections were made. The selected plants could be forwarded further towards development of GM resistant rice varities.
