Abstract:
Downy mildew caused by Peronospora viciae f. sp. pisi DC results heavy losses in the yield and quality of green pods in vegetable pea crop. Germplasm comprising 89 accessions of vegetable pea collected from different sources were screened for disease resistance against downy mildew under natural epiphytotic conditions for 2 years. Based on the data on two consecutive years, among the 89 accessions screened, Arkel was found be susceptible with high Area Under Disease Progress Curve (AUDPC), PS-11, PCPGR-6091 were found to be resistant with lowest AUDPC, Multi frozen, Pila Lubix, Little Marvel, Lincoln, EFL-9, Selection-23, PSM-3, Pant Upahar were moderately resistant and rest all the germplasm found to be moderately susceptible to downy mildew under natural conditions for 2 consecutive years.
