Abstract:
Quantum dots are zero dimensional nanostructures generally in the range off 1-10 nm. In this study, iron oxide (Fe2O3) QDs were synthesized, characterized and used for seed treatment on blackgram (VBN 8). Blackgram seed were treated wide spectrum of concentration ranging from 0-1000 ppm with iron oxide (Fe2O3) QDs. Iron oxide QDs at a concentration of 500 ppm with 2 hours treatment duration shows an improvement in Physiological parameters like root length, shoot length, germination %, seedling emergence, Vigour Index-I and dry matter production. However, Fe2O3 QDs, at higher concentrations of (1000 ppm) found to reduce the physiological activity of the seeds.
