Effect of month of planting and spacing on growth and flower yield in chrysanthemum (Dendranthema grandiflora Tzvelev) cv. Marigold

Abstract:
A field experiment was conducted during kharif, 2018-19 and 2020-21 at the Horticulture Garden, Department of Horticulture, UAS, Raichur, Karnataka. The experiment was laid out in a split plot design with fifteen treatments including month of planting, spacing and their combination in three replications. The result emanated from the experiment significantly recorded maximum growth and flower yield parameters. Planting during second fortnight of august at the spacing of 45 cm × 45 cm (M1S3) recorded maximum plant height, number of secondary branches, stem girth, less days taken for flower bud initiation, more number of flowers per plant whereas, maximum flower yield per plot and flower yield per hectare was observed in the treatment of second fortnight of august transplanting with spacing of 30 cm × 30 cm (M1S2).
