Abstract:Irrigation water accounts 90% of total global consumption. The increasing trend of surface warming during the end of the century would result in an increase in pre-monsoonal and monsoonal rainfall and no substantial change in winter rainfall over the Indian subcontinent. This would result in an increase in the monsoonal and annual run-off and the increase in evaporation and soil wetness during the monsoon on an annual basis.
