Abstract:
A study on the ―Effect of organic manure and mulching on growth and yield of cauliflower. (Brassica oleracea L. var. botrytis.) cv. Pusa Snow ball, Under agroclimatic condition of Kanpur, was conducted to assess the potential of these organic fertilizers in replacing the chemical fertilizer for cauliflower production under protected structure. The experiment was laid out in randomized block design with three replication and nine treatment viz. T1 (Control (No Mulch), T2(White Mulch+ Vermicompost), T3(White Mulch+ FYM), T4(Black Mulch + Vermicompost), T5(Black Mulch+ FYM), T6 (Paddy straw+ Vermicompost), T7 (Paddy straw + FYM), T8(Grass straw + Vermicompost), T9(Grass straw + FYM). The results showed that plants treated with T4(Black Mulch + Vermicompost), T5 (Black Mulch + FYM) highest weight of curd, highest curd diameter and highest yield in cauliflower. Thus, practice of integrated sources of nutrients and mulching could be the better option for improving the nutrient status in soil.
