Abstract:
The field experiment was carried out to study the characterization of DUS (Distinctness, Uniformity, and Stability) in sixty diverse linseed (Linum usitatissimum L.) genotypes including exotic and indigenous accessions of linseed, which were taken from AICRP on Linseed, Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding IGKV, Raipur (C.G.), India during Rabi 2021-22. Linseed is a versatile crop cultivated in various regions for its applications in food, feed, fiber, and industry. To fully harness the potential of linseed in agriculture, having access to a wide range of germplasm, along with detailed characterization and evaluation data, becomes extremely critical. Field observations on floral and other morphological traits were recorded. Utilizing diverse genotypes, we evaluated and documented the distinctive traits, identifying potential donors for various desirable characteristics. The data collected through rigorous characterization sheds light on the unique attributes of linseed varieties, facilitating the development of superior strains for enhanced productivity and quality. The results of this study provide valuable insights into the genetic diversity and phenotypic variability of linseed, paving the way for targeted breeding efforts and sustainable agricultural practices.
