Abstract:
The studies on aggregate stability in soils of Solapur district and their correlation with soil organic carbon and available nitrogen was executed during 2022. Total 30 soil samples were systematically collected from the surface layer from the depth of 0-15 cm, and the precise spatial coordinates of the sampled sites were recorded by GPS device. The findings revealed that about 17 (56.67%) samples reported poor aggregate stability (MWD) and only 13 (43.33%) samples reported good aggregate stability. The bulk densityofanalyzed soil samples ranged between 1.38-1.52 Mg m-3 with an average value of 1.45 Mg m-3. The content of available nitrogen, available phosphorus and available potassium in soils of Solapur district varied from 120.0-203.1 kg ha-1, 3.9-16.3 kg ha-1 and 235.2-571.2 kg ha-1, respectively. Similarly, the concentration of soil organic carbon, and their different fractions such as water soluble carbon (WSC), soil microbial biomass carbon (SMBC), permanganate oxidisable soil carbon (POSC), particulate organic matter carbon (POMC), humic acid carbon, fulvic acid carbon and total organic carbon (TOC) varied from 3.0-8.25 g kg-1 soil, 2.92-6.06 mgkg-1, 132.86-335.18 mg kg-1, 299.25-654.75 mg kg-1, 1.23-2.37 g kg-1, 80.88-139.71 g kg-1, 42.65-117.65 g kg-1 and 5.15-18.45 g kg-1, respectively.
