Assessing the effect of precision nitrogen management on nutrient content, nutrient uptake, and nutrient use efficiency of Indian mustard (Brassica juncea L.) in western U.P.

Abstract:
A field experiment was conducted in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, to assess the influence of diverse nitrogen management practices on the growth, yield attributes, and yield of Indian mustard (Brassica juncea L.). The study aimed to evaluate the impact of various nitrogen combinations as top dressings on the growth, yield attributes, and yield of Indian mustard. An Integrated Nitrogen Management approach was standardized, utilizing Nano urea, urea spray, and Sagarika as alternatives to conventional nitrogen application methods. The experiment followed a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 12 treatments, including control (T1), 100%NF (50:25:25%N) (T2), 50% NF + 1 spray Nano urea (T3), 50% NF + 2 spray Nano urea (T4), 50% NF + Sagarika (T5), 50% NF + 1 spray Nano urea + Sagarika (T6), 50% NF + 2 spray Nano urea + Sagarika (T7), 50% NF + Beejamruta + Jeewamruta (T8), 50% NF + 1 spray Urea (T9), 50% NF + 2 spray Urea (T10), 50% NF + 1 spray Nano urea + Sagarika (T11), and 50% NF + 2 spray Nano urea + Sagarika (T12). The cultivar used was GIRIRAJ (DRMR IJ-31) in an irrigated ecosystem. Results highlighted the significant influence of treatments T7 (50% NF + 2 spray Nano urea + Sagarika) and T12 (50% NF + 2 spray Urea + Sagarika) on nutrient content, uptake and nutrient use efficiency.
