Abstract:
A field experiment was conducted during the rabi season of 2022-23 at Post Graduate Experimental Farm, Department of Agronomy, College of Agriculture, VNMKV, Parbhani. The experiment was laid out in Restricted Randomized Block Design with eight treatments in three replications each, which are T₁ - PE herbicide application of Pendimethalin 30% EC @ 1.0 kg a.i. ha^-1 at 1.0 m height by drone, T₂ - PE herbicide application of Pendimethalin 30% EC @ 1.0 kg a.i. ha^-1 at 1.5 m height by drone, T₃ - PE herbicide application of Pendimethalin 30% EC @ 0.05 kg a.i. ha^-1 at 1.0 m height by drone, T₄ - PE herbicide application of Pendimethalin 30% EC @ 0.05 kg a.i. ha^-1 at 1.5 m height by drone, T₅ - PE herbicide application of Pendimethalin 30% EC @ 1.0 kg a.i. ha^-1 by knapsack sprayer, T₆ - PE herbicide application of Pendimethalin 30% EC @ 1.0 kg a.i. ha^-1 by boom sprayer, T₇ - Weed free, T₈ - Weedy check. On the basis of present studies results revealed that, among the weed management practices, weed free (T₇) can satisfactorily manage the weeds in safflower and produce the higher growth attributing characters viz., plant height, number of branches plant ^-1, number of functional leaves plant^-1, total dry matter accumulation plant^-1 which was significantly superior over rest of treatments and it was found to be at par with the PE herbicide application of Pendimethalin 30% EC @ 1.0 kg a.i. ha^-1 by boom sprayer (T₆) and the PE herbicide application of Pendimethalin 30% EC @ 1.0 kg a.i. ha^-1 by knapsack sprayer (T₅). Whereas, lowest values were recorded with weedy check (T₈). The lowest weed count of both monocot and dicot weeds were found in weed free (T₇).
