Abstract:
The present investigation was carried out at the Experimental field, Division of Vegetable Science, SKUAST-K, Shalimar during Rabi season 2021-22. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications and plant spacing of 30 cm × 30 cm for thirty genotypes including three checksviz. Pusa Virat, Purple Vienna and White Vienna. Observations were recorded for various yield and yield attributing traits. Analysis of variance revealed significant differences among genotypes for all the traits. The estimates of phenotypic coefficient of variance were slightly higher than the corresponding genotypic coefficient of variance for all the characters studied indicating little influence of environment in the expression of these traits. The estimates of heritability in broad sense were high for all the traits. Correlation studies indicated that net stem weight followed by gross stem weight, petiole length, stem breadth, internode length and number of leaf whorls had significant positive correlation with yield per hectare. Path coefficient analysis showed that number of leaf whorls followed by plant height, net stem weight and stem length had highest direct effects on the yield per hectare.
