Effect of different levels of Fertilisers on yield, nutrient uptake and economics of Indian Mustard (Brassica juncea L.)

Abstract:
The present study was carried out with the objectives to study the growth the effect of different levels of fertilisers on yield, nutrient uptake and economics of the Indian mustard variety NRCHB-101 under graded doses of fertilizer. The field experiment was conducted during 2016-17 at the Agronomy Main Research Station, OUAT, Bhubaneswar laid out in a Factorial Randomized Block Design with three replications and twelve treatments. The dose of 100kg N ha-1 produced maximum amount of seed and the dose of 80kg N ha-1 produced maximum stover. As regards P application, 40 kg P ha-1 had the highest yield of seed and stover. Highest seed yield and stover yield were obtained from 30 kg K ha-1. The total N uptake by Indian mustard var. NRCHB-101 was highest at N3 (120 Kg ha-1) and lowest at P1 (20 kg ha-1) i.e., 64.08 kg ha-1 and 60.95 kg ha-1, respectively. The total P uptake was highest at N3 (120 Kg ha-1) and lowest at N1 (80 kg ha-1) i.e., 27.32 kg ha-1 and 21.51 kg ha-1, respectively. The total K uptake by Indian mustard var. NRCHB-101 was highest at N3 (120 Kg ha-1) and lowest at N1 (80 kg ha-1) i.e., 51.79 kg ha-1 and 45.60 kg ha-1, respectively. The highest net return was obtained in case of the treatment with nutrient doses of N2P2K2 (100-40-30) i.e., Rs 21112 ha-1. The gross returns per rupee investment was calculated to be highest for the treatment with nutrient combination N2P2K2 (100-40-30) i.e., 1.80.
