Effect of spacing and planting season on growth and leaf yield of sacred basil (Ocimum sanctum)

Abstract:
A field experiment was carried out during 2019-20 and 2020-21 at College farm, College of Horticulture, Venkataramannagudem, West Godavari Distract of AP. Data were recorded on growth parameters like plant height, number of primary branches per plant, number of secondary branches per plant, leaf area and yield parameter on fresh weight of leaves per plant. Among the treatment combination 40 cm x 30 cm + late Kharif (S1P2) was found to record the highest plant height. The widest spacing of 40 cm x 60 cm + late Kharif (S4P2) recorded the maximum number of primary branches per plant, number of secondary branches per plant, leaf area and fresh weight of leaves per plant.
