A study on socio-economic status and management practices followed by the dairy farmers of Nalgonda district in Telangana state

Abstract:
The data was collected through personal interview method with the help of well structured interview schedule from randomly selected 76 dairy farmers in the Chandampet and Gundlapalli (Dindi) Mandals of Nalgonda district in Telangana State. The results revealed that the average age of the dairy farmers in the study area was 44.75 years. Among the dairy farmers about 56.58 per cent of the dairy farmers were illiterates. 98.68% of dairy farmers were having dairying and agriculture as the main occupation. 60.53 per cent of the dairy farmers were belonging to Scheduled Tribe. The average land holding of the dairy farmers was 2.14 acres. The average herd size of the dairy farmers was 4.58 Livestock Units. 72.37% of the dairy farmers had not provided the shelter to animals. In the study area 92.11% of the dairy farmers had not provided bedding to the animals.
