Abstract:
The consumer demands and aspirations are mutating at a very fast speed. The need and requirements of the consumers of 21^st century is challenging the designers to come up with new creative designs. In order to get an insight into the preferences of textile articles by consumers, six textile articles were designed using CorelDraw12. Two commonly and most widely used articles from three categories were selected for development of designs. The selected articles were table runner, table mats (home furnishing articles), wall pocket, handbag (utility articles), ladies jacket and cap (apparel and accessories). Three designs for each article thus, a total of eighteen designs were created on CorelDraw12 software (vector based programme). The created designs were shown to 20 experts and preferences were taken. Almost all the designs were found to be acceptable by the experts.
